Power Rangers
The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers costume continues to be one of the hottest Halloween costumes ever!
One of my favorite memories growing up was watching the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers? Myself and millions of kids worldwide would get up early on a Saturday morning just to watch the latest episode. The original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers aired on Fox TV for only three seasons from 1993 to 1996. However, that was enough to inspire the start of a franchise. The franchise has continued well into 2009. It now consists of 17 seasons and 15 different Mighty Morphin Power Ranger series with two films.
The most recent film was released in March 2009. The series was originally produced by Saban Entertainment and later by BVS Entertainment. BVS is a division under Disney. The original concept was adapted from the Japanese Tokusatau Super Sentai series. Nearly all episodes will include carry over from the Japanese source material. Some will even have Sentai designs and edited footage.
A true power ranger is a fictional character that morphs into a powerful superhero. The superhero will generally wear a color-coated Power Rangers costume with a helmet that has an opaque visor. Each ranger will be assigned a suit and energy spectrum that matches a specific color. When the characters are morphed into rangers they generally possess super human strength, durability and the ability to fight in hand to hand combat.
When Disney started creating the series, the characters were able to maintain some of their superhero powers even when they were in their natural state; such powers as, super human speed or invisibility. Rangers regularly operate in teams of five with an occasional, sixth team member joining the group somewhere in the middle of the series.
Each team of power ranges must obey a set of rules, or guidelines. A power ranger must not use their powers for personal gain. They may never use their powers for escalating a fight to higher intensity. They must never disclose their true identity to the general public, except for in extenuating circumstances. The plenty for disobeying any of these rules would be the loss of their power.
Along with their powers and following the guidelines, power rangers usually carry a standardized arsenal of weapons. Their arsenal usually includes either a laser gun or a sword. They will usually have access to a secondary set of weapons that combined into a larger weapon; like a cannon. Usually the arsenal, especially the swords, ended up getting destroyed at the end of the season. This usually has to happen in order to destroy the large and final monster.

The Red Power Rangers Costume is flying off the shelves for Halloween 2009. The Green Muscle Power Rangers Costume has a cool look that kids love.

X-Files Mythology - Vol. 4: Super Soldiers $39.98 The fourth and final volume of the X-Files Mythology series picks up in season 8, with Agent John Doggett (Robert Patrick of Terminator 2) entrenched as the partner of Agent Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson). That leads to some obvious friction when Agent Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) makes an improbable return and finds himself shut out of the branch that he created and worked in for so long. Also making an improbable return is a young man named Billy Miles (Zachary Ansley), who after being pronounced dead, sheds his skin to become a Super Soldier, a nearly invulnerable alien assassin created to wipe out the human race as part of the colonization plot revealed in volume 3. Other super soldiers during the season included Lucy Lawless (Xena), Terry O'Quinn (Millennium), and Adam Baldwin (Firefly). While this seemed at times like a warmed-over version of the former green-blooded alien bounty-hunters arc, it took a different twist when it directly involved Scully's new baby, William. By season 9, Scully had ceased active duty on the X-Files, and many loyal viewers had stopped watching as well. Doggett's new partner was Monica Reyes (Annabeth Gish), who had been introduced in season 8 as a cult-ritual expert. Gish, whose character had her own history with Doggett, was a solid addition to the cast (though sometimes reduced to the role of baby carrier). Duchovny was officially gone from the opening credits and most of the episodes, and he and Scully were officially no longer platonic (which usually means jumping the shark). But he did return for the series finale, which over the course of a double-length episode neatly summed up this whole mythology arc. Volume 4's bonus features are the thinnest of the series, consisting of the last installment of the "Mythology" documentary, featuring appearances by the crew plus Robert Patrick and Annabeth Gish, and commentary tracks on two episodes. Actors: David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson Writers: Chris Carter Format: Closed-captioned, Color, Dolby, Dubbed, DVD-Video, Subtitled, Widescreen, NTSC Language: English Subtitles: English, Spanish Number of discs: 4 Studio: 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment Run Time: 659 minutes DVD Release Date: November 22, 2005 |

Firefly: The Complete Series DVD $49.98 Creator Joss Whedon's ambitious science-fiction Western (Whedon's third series after Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel) was canceled after only 11 of these 14 episodes had aired on the Fox network, but history has proven that its demise was woefully premature. Whedon's generic hybrid got off to a shaky start when network executives demanded an action-packed one-hour premiere ("The Train Job"); in hindsight the intended two-hour pilot (also titled "Serenity," and oddly enough, the final episode aired) provides a better introduction to the show's concept and splendid ensemble cast. Obsessive fans can debate the quirky logic of combining spaceships with direct parallels to frontier America (it's 500 years in the future, and embattled humankind has expanded into the galaxy, where undeveloped "outer rim" planets struggle with the equivalent of Old West accommodations), but Whedon and his gifted co-writers and directors make it work, at least well enough to fashion a credible context from the incongruous culture-clashing of past, present, and future technologies, along with a polyglot language (the result of two dominant superpowers) that combines English with an abundance of Chinese slang. What makes it work is Whedon's delightfully well-chosen cast and their nine well-developed characters--a typically Whedon-esque extended family--each providing a unique perspective on their adventures aboard Serenity, the junky but beloved "Firefly-class" starship they call home. As a veteran of the disadvantaged Independent faction's war against the all-powerful planetary Alliance (think of it as Underdogs vs. Overlords), Serenity captain Malcolm Reynolds (Nathan Fillion) leads his compact crew on a quest for survival. They're renegades with an amoral agenda, taking any job that pays well, but Firefly's complex tapestry of right and wrong (and peace vs. violence) is richer and deeper than it first appears. Tantalizing clues about Blue Sun (an insidious mega-corporation with a mysteriously evil agenda), its ties to the Alliance, and the traumatizing use of Serenity's resident stowaway (Summer Glau) as a guinea pig in the development of advanced warfare were clear indications Firefly was heading for exciting revelations that were precluded by the series' cancellation. Fortunately, the big-screen Serenity (which can be enjoyed independently of the series) ensured that Whedon's wild extraterrestrial west had not seen its final sunset. Its very existence confirms that these 14 episodes (and enjoyable bonus features) will endure as irrefutable proof Fox made a glaring mistake in canceling the series. Episodes: -Serenity-part 1 & 2 -- Air date 12/20/02 The crew of Serenity is eager to rid themselves of an easily traceable cargo they salvaged from a vessel adrift in space, totally unaware that a passenger has brought an even more dangerous cargo aboard. -The Train Job -- Air date 09/20/02 Mal has second thoughts after discovering that two boxes of |

The Rocky Horror Picture Show - Original Soundtrack CD $11.99 For the 1975 film version of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, American producer Lou Adler wisely mixed the best of the London and Los Angeles stage versions, shooting the movie in England with Tim Curry and several of the other original cast members, plus Meatloaf (years before Bat Out of Hell), and Americans Barry Bostwick and Susan Sarandon as the innocent couple Brad and Janet. Adler also brought back original London stage musicians in place of the slick studio musicians who had marred the L.A. cast album. The film version resequenced the songs and reassigned some of the vocals, with Brad's song "Once in a While" dropped. But it all worked out fine. The strings that were added to ballads like "Science Fiction/Double Feature" only improved them; the rockers rocked out; Bostwick and Sarandon proved to be the best Brad and Janet ever; the original cast members, especially Curry, reveled in the opportunity to immortalize their portrayals; and Rocky Horror's potential as a witty parody of cheap movies, rock & roll, and sexual mores was fully realized. The film soundtrack album became the definitive version of the score, despite lacking the songs "Planet Shmanet Janet" and "The Sword of Damocles." The Rocky Horror Picture Show was not successful in its initial theatrical run, but then a strange thing happened. In 1976, the Waverly Theater in New York's Greenwich Village began showing the film at midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Soon, a cult of repeat viewers began turning up every week; they began to dress like the characters, call out their own comments at strategic moments, sing along, and add their own theatrical effects. The phenomenon spread across the U.S., with fans rivaling Trekkies and Deadheads for loyalty and eccentricity, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show took on a life Richard O'Brien never could have anticipated. ~ William Ruhlmann Cast includes: Tim Curry, Meat Loaf. 1.
